Guests leave at eleven, the next arrive at three, and in between the beds have to be stripped and remade, the kitchen and bathroom reset, amenities restocked, and the place returned to matching its listing photographs. A turnover is closer to hotel housekeeping than domestic cleaning. Clean isn't the goal — reset is. Everything returns to a known configuration, identically, every time: beds remade with fresh linens, towels folded and placed as they appear in your photos, kitchen restored to its full complement, coffee and paper goods restocked, welcome materials squared, and every trace of the previous guest removed. Consistency is the whole product, because a review is very often decided in the ninety seconds after a guest walks in.

Hosting in west Queens has a particular shape. Most units are a floor, a basement apartment or a converted attic within an owner-occupied house — separate entrance, lockbox, no doorman, and the host living in the same building.
