Our Story

Shining Home Cleaning Services of Queens, NY started in 2014 on Metropolitan Avenue, and Middle Village turned out to be an unusual place to build a cleaning company. This isn't a neighborhood of transient renters. People buy here and stay — thirty and forty years is ordinary — and that produced a business built almost entirely on long relationships rather than one-off jobs. 7,500+ cleans and a 5.0-star rating from 150+ clients later, a genuine number of our recurring clients have had the same cleaner for most of the time we've been operating.

The houses themselves taught us the practical lesson early. A Middle Village or Maspeth home is not an apartment with extra rooms — it's a detached or semi-detached house with two or three floors above ground, a finished basement that's usually in daily use, often a converted attic, and a garage. That's easily half again the square footage a bedroom count implies. Every cleaning company we came up against quoted on bedrooms alone and then either rushed the job or asked for more money once they arrived. We ask about the basement, the attic and the garage before quoting, which is a duller answer but a considerably more honest one.

Ridgewood has the Mathews Model Flats, thousands of yellow-brick row houses with original tiled vestibules that respond beautifully to care and badly to anything abrasive. We carry neutral soaps and non-abrasives as standard and ask what finish is on the wood before we touch it.
